Maria is from Eastern Europe and came to Canada a few years back.

In her home country she studied English just so she could have a basic conversation with the immigration officer and to fill out her immigration papers. She said: “Well, once I get there I’ll be OK, I will take English classes and soon I’ll find a job”.

So a few months pass by and Maria is very nervous that she will have to look for a job soon. She can’t procrastinate anymore, the money is getting fewer and fewer every day. She is not comfortable speaking English but she has no choice.
